Part Twelve -- Finale

Everything was blurry. I could feel the cold, hard floor, and I could hear people talking, but I couldn't seem anything. I blinked a few times and my vision cleared.

Standing above me was an angel. His blond hair glowed under the lights, and his blue eyes sparkled. From the way he was standing, he looked like he had a halo over his head.

"Heather, are you alright?" he asked softly.

"Am I dead?" I questioned.

He laughed. "No, you're very much alive. It's Nick, remember?"

He helped me sit up, and I looked down at my body. Long brown hair with red streaks in it fell into my face. My eyes grew wide and I smiled. I looked up at Nick.

"I'm me! I'm in my own body!" I leaned over and hugged him.

"Can you stand?" he asked when we let go.

"I think so." With his help, I slowly sttod up. I was still a little dizzy and my head hurt, but, other than that, I was fine.

I looked across the room to see Sandee helping AJ stand. Amy, EmmE, Peggy, and Kasey came into the room and walked over to me with water and a damp washcloth. I could see Mark and the guys doing the same for AJ.

"What happened?" I asked as Amy began to dab my forehead.

"When you kissed AJ, it looked like lightening struck the both of you. It sent you flying across the room in opposite directions. Then everything stopped. We turned on the lights and went to get this stuff. That brings us up to now," Kasey explained.

"Wow," I muttered.

We walked over to AJ and the others. He looked up when we approached.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, you?"

"Yeah."

"I think we should put the both of you to bed," Peggy interjected.

"Wait, no. I need to talk to Nick," I protested.

"And I need to talk to Sandee," AJ agreed.

"Alright," she consented.

I turned to Nick. "Here you have it; the person who has been wreaking havoc in AJ's body for the last three months. Let me actually introduce myself. I'm Heather." I stuck out my hand.

He took it and pulled me into his arms. "It's nice to finally meet the real you," he smiled. "You're incredible, Heather. And I don't know what you were worrying about. You're absolutely beautiful, even with red streaks in your hair."

I laughed. I was going to say something, but Nick stopped me with a kiss. His embrace was tight, and his lips were warm. In that moment, I knew everything was going to be alright.

AJ

I watched Heather and Nick kiss and smiled. I liked her better than Missy, and I'm sure the other guys did, too.

I turned to Sandee and took her hand. She, too, had been watching Heather and Nick and now she turned her attention to me.

"So," I started.

"So," she responded. "You're AJ."

"Yes, I am. And, boy, am I glad to be back in my own body."

"I'm glad you're back in your body, too. Personally, I think you're cuter this way."

I laughed. "Thank you. I think this relationship will definitely work. And I can finally do what I've been dying to do for three months, but first, I have to go ask Kasey something."

She gave me a puzzled look. "Okay." I led her over to where Kasey and Kevin were talking about music. I tapped Kasey on the shoulder. She turned around.

"Hey! How do you feel?" she asked.

"Better. I've got a question to ask you."

"What?"

"Did you bring your contract?" Her face went white. We both looked at Kevin and saw him give her a puzzled look. I patted him on the back. "Don't worry, Kev. You'll find out."

Sandee smacked me, and I turned around to face her. "That wasn't very nice," she said.

I scooped her up in my arms. "Yeah, but maybe it'll start something between those two. Kevin needs a little laughter in his life. Now, where was I? Oh, yeah."

Without missing a beat, I kissed her. Her lips were full and soft, and they had a sweet taste to them. Right then, I knew everything would be alright.
