“Great. Just great,” Daniel Jackson mumbled as he rushed into the store. Narrowly missing a woman carrying several shopping bags, he headed towards the jewelry counter.

Jack O’Neil just rolled his eyes as he followed along behind him. “Daniel, this is not the end of the world.”

“Oh, yes, it is. She’s going to kill me for this.” Anxiously, Daniel peered at the various necklaces underneath the glass case.

“No, she won’t. Carter can get a little upset, but she won’t kill you for missing her birthday,” Jack commented as he leaned up against the jewelry counter.

Daniel glared at him. “Easy for you to say. You’re not dating her.”

The easygoing military colonel shrugged as he glanced behind himself. “In all the time you’ve known Carter, when have you ever known her to wear jewelry?”

Daniel stopped, a blank look on his face. “You’re right.” He checked his watch. “She’s going to be back at any minute, and I’m not going to have a gift for her.”

“What did you do when it was Sha’re’s birthday?”

“They don’t celebrate birthdays on Abydos like we do, and Sam and Sha’re are two different women.”

Standing up, Jack grabbed the hyper archeologist by the arm. “All right, follow me. Watch and learn from the master of forgotten holidays.”

Samantha Carter gasped as she opened the small, blue package. “Oh, Daniel, you remembered.” She looked up and met his blue eyes. “You really didn’t have to get me anything.”

Daniel shrugged. “It was nothing. Just a little something that shows how much I love you.”

“How did you know I loved Godiva chocolates?”

“A lucky guess.”

“Thank you so much.” With that, she kissed him and pulled him into a hug. Behind her, Jack just smiled as Daniel gave him a thumbs up.
